Japanese Eel (Anguilla japonica) ニホンウナギ – Unagi – size 150cm
I found this Japanese Eel in the gutter next to the road on a walk near my house. Japanese Eels are usually called by their Japanese name unagi in America these days. They live in fresh water and spawn far out in the ocean. The eels come back to the rivers and streams while they are very small. Amami 2026
