Threadfins have treads extending from below the pectoral fins. The Sixfinger Threadfin has 6. The striped Threadfin has 5. Both of those Theadfins are present in Japan. These are from Hawaii where only the Sixfinger Threadfin is reported. The treads are against the body in these pictures and not even visible. Kauai 2015
Sixfinger Threadfin like brackish water and are grown in ponds in Hawaii for food. These pictures were taken from next to shore where there is lots of surge and air bobbles in the water. There is also freshwater seeping into the ocean in this area. Kauai 2014
