Lowfin Chub (Kyphosus vaigiensis) イスズミ – Nenue – size 90cm
The Lowfin Chub has lower profile dorsal and anal fins. The edge of the anal fin is in line with the top of the caudal fin. It also has brassy yellow lines and a black spot at the bottom of the pectoral fin. They are said to get up to 90cm which is about 3 times as big as I have ever seen them. Amami 2023
The Lowfin Chubs normally graze on algae. In Hawaii they also congregate under tour boats. The closest one has white blotches which is a temporary display. Kauai 2020
