Blotched Hawkfish (Cirrhitichthys aprinus) ミナミゴンベ – Spotted, Boar, or Red Barred Hawkfish – size 12cm
The Blotched Hawkfish has many common names. This is probably because there are many similar Hawkfish. Many of these names discribe more than one Hawkfish. Cirrhitichthys aprinus has red bars infront of its nonspotted tail. It has a dark spot on the top of its gill cover and blotches instead of spots on its body. It also has lines not spots under the eyes. These blotches do get larger as it ages. Amami 2025
