Ambon Damsel (Pomacentrus amboinensis) ニセネッタイスズメダイ
Juvenile Ambon Damsels have a false eye spot at the rear of the dorsal fin. Pale yellow color darker scale margins, spots at pectoral base and top of gill.
Ambon Damsels lose their false eye spots as they age. The spots on the pectoral and top of gill cover remain.
An Adult Ambon Damsel. There is a lot of confusion about the identification of Ambon Damsels and Lemon Damsels. They are very similar. I chose the pictures that best fit the descriptions of them. There are many in between. It is possible that a lot of them could be hybrids. If you search you will see many fish that look the same but have different identifications. There is also an article that says they see differently than us and that in ultraviolet light there is a difference that the fish can see.
