Comet (Calloplesiops altivelis) シモフリタナバタウオ – size 20cm
The Comet is a dark fish with white and blue spots. The fins are very long and there is an ocellus at the back base of the dorsal fin. They are nocturnal and are in caves during the day. it is said that they will hide headfirst in a cave with the caudal fin and ocellus exposed to mimic an eel. It must do a good job because I thought that I saw an eel. When I looked for the eel, I found the Comet. Amami 2026
