Bonefish (Albula sp.) O’io – ソトイワシ – size 90cm
I think that this is a Shortjaw Bonefish (Albula glossodonta). It could be Albula virgata which is an endemic Hawaiian fish. It was in Hawaii, but I don’t see a yellow spot above the pectoral fin. Albula virgata has a faint yellow spot, but I don’t see it in the picture. I don’t remember seeing it at the time either. Bonefish live in the sand flats where they feed on small creatures in the sand. Kauai 2015
