Unicorn Filefish (Aluterus monoceros) ウスバハギ – Loulu – size 75 cm
The Unicorn Filefish is a pelagic species and not often seen by divers. This Bottlenose Dolphin was kind enough to hold one up for me to photograph. Kauai 2018
Unicorn Filefish a fraction of a second earlier. I think that its sine is broken off. Dolphins seem to like to do that. It probably makes them easier to eat. I have never seen a Unicorn Filefish while I was in the water. I have seen people catch them at a FAD buoy. I could also see them swimming near the FAD buoy. I have not had a chance to jump in at a FAD buoy but, I hear they are a good place to see pelagic fish. Kauai 2018
