Striated Cone (Conus striatus) ニシキミナシ – size 13cm
The Striated Cone feeds on fish. It has a venomous harpoon which is shot out of its proboscis. This kills the fish, and it eats it. The venom is strong and can kill a person. I used to have a Striated Cone in an aquarium a long time ago. I would feed it small fish, and they did not live long after being harpooned. Amami 2025

This Striated Cone was found on the beach. The live shells have a periostracum covering the shell. The periostracum is usually fairly thin on the Striated Cone but they look much better without it. The waves and the sand did a good job of cleaning this shell. Amami 2025
