Stolid Cowry (Bistolida stolida) スソヨツメダカラ – size 4.5cm – Dark-blotched Cowry
This Stolid Cowry was found empty on sand in about 3m of water next to a large rock with lots of sponges, algae and hydroids. It was very shiny and probably not dead for long. There are 4 accepted subspecies of Bistolida stolida this one was 3cm long. They are found in the Indo-Pacific. I haven’t found any record of them from Hawaii. Amami 2026

A pair of live Stolid Cowries. The mantle is white and transparent enough to identify them even when totally covering the shell. Amami 2026
