Snapping Shrimp (Alpheus pacificus) タイヘイヨウテッポウエビ
Snapping Shrimp are very common on reefs finding them is hard. You can hear them snapping when you are snorkeling, but they are small and like to hide. These were found in a snorkel that had been left on the bottom for some time. Identifying them was hard. There are not a lot of good pictures of living snapping shrimp out there. There were a few pictures that looked just like these, but they were tentative. There were some Alpheus pacificus pictures that looked just like these and some that did not look like these. I did not see anything that looked like these that was identified as anything else. Kauai 2015

I wanted to get some pictures of the Snapping Shrimp on the bottom, but this was all I could get before they disappeared. Kauai 2015
