The Black-necked Stilt has a wide range from Hawaii through the Americas and as far as Bermuda in the Atlantic.
The Aeo is the Hawaiian subspecies of the Black-necked Stilt (Himantopus mexicanus knudseni).

Two Aeos in a taro patch. The pink thing on the taro is the eggs of a snail. The snails do much damage to the taro. They accidently escaped in the past and have become a pest. Someone should open an escargot restaurant in Hanalei and sell them to tourists. They taste good. Just the t-shirt sales alone would make them rich. Hanalei 2007
