Rose-ringed Parakeet – ホンセイインコ

Rose-ringed Parakeet (Psittacula krameri) ホンセイインコ
The Rose-ringed Parakeet is native to India and parts of Africa. It has been introduced to many areas around the world as pets. They have become urban pests in many places. The male has a black and pink neck ring. They like to nest in palm trees. Kauai 2010

In Kauai I could see the Rose-ringed Parakeet flying out in the mornings. They would be returning to their roosting spots in the evening. They would often be in large flocks and making a lot of noise. They would change roosting spots from time to time. Around sunset they would be very noisy around the roosting spots and once they got into the trees, they were very hard to see. Kauai 2010

I very rarely would see the Rose-ringed Parakeets stop in my yard. This one is in my papaya tree. Kauai 2018

Another Rose-ringed Parakeet in my papaya tree. I never saw them eat any of my fruit. Kauai 2018
