The Thousand-spot Grubfish, is a Sandperch. They Perch on the sand and look for prey to swim too close.
They have spots on the snout, top of head and a white streak in the back middle of the caudle fin. Often there is a black blotch on the tail as well. The pattern on the sides has a bit of variation making it not so easy to distinguish between the Sandperches. Amami 2024
