Yaeyama Blenny (Ecsenius yaeyamaensis) イシガキカエルウオ – Palespotted Combtooth Blenny – size 6cm
Yaeyama blenny is often seen perched on coral. It has a dark line from the top of the pectoral fin below the chin to the other pectoral fin. Below and behind that is a dark V shaped line. Behind the eye is a dark dashed line that fades to pale tan body with white spots. Amami 2024
This is a darker version of the Yaeyama Blenny. Sometimes the dark ones are labeled as male. I am not sure if it is mating coloration or not. Amami 2024
