Stareye Parrotfish (Calotomus carolinus) タイワンブダイ – Pōnuhunuhu – size 54cm
A male Stareye Parrotfish is blue and green with pink lines radiating from the eye. They have bumpy teeth that are different from the normal Parrotfish teeth. The Stareye Parrotfish will also swim behind a rock and hide against it instead of just swimming away. I have seen this often with Stareye Parrotfish but never with other types of Parrotfish. The female Stareye Parrotfish is brown often blotchy with light edges to the scales. It has bumpy teeth and likes to hide behind rocks too. Kauai 2015
