Hime habu (Ovophis okinavensis) ヒメハブ (size 80cm)
The Hime habu are venomous pit vipers. They are smaller and not as active as the Habu and considered less dangerous. They should still be avoided. This one was by a pond and may have been looking for frogs, newts or birds. Amami 2023
This is the same Hime habu from above. The colors vary but the pattern stays the same. They are shorter and proportionally fatter than the Habu. Amami 2023
