
Checkered Cowry (Luria tessellata) ゴバンダカラ size 5cm
The Checkered Cowry was long thought to be an endemic species of Hawaii. They have been found elsewhere in the Pacific and now Luria tessellata tessellata is an endemic subspcies of Hawaii and the others are called Luria tessellata lani. The have a checkered pattern on top. Size varies the large one here is 45mm both were found on Kauai in the 1990’s. I had found Checkered Cowries on Oahu too.
