Bluestriped Snapper (Lutjanus kasmira) Taape ヨスジフエダイ
Bluestriped Snapper in Japan are not so common as they are in Hawaii. Amami 2023

Bluestriped Snapper have four stripes. They may be straight or a little crooked. Amami 2023

Bluestriped Snapper or Taape were introduced to Hawaii from the Marquesas Islands in the 1950’s. They did very well in Hawaii. There are lots of them now, but it was considered a mistake because they displaced a lot of the native species that were preferred. I have not seen many over here where they are a native species. The Bluestriped Snapper seem to have more of a yellow belly than those in Japan. Kauai 2013
