
Belted Wrasse (Stethojulis balteata) – ‘ōmaka – size 15cm
The Belted Wrasse is a Hawaiian endemic. Above is a male. The Males and females are both very similar to (Stethojulis bandanensis). The orange stripe on the back half is a red patch over the pectoral fin on (Stethojulis bandanensis).

A female Bellted Wrasse with a male below. The female (Stethojulis bandanensis) has a red spot above the pectoral fin with the yellow on the nose and white spots on the peduncle the same.
