The Goldenspot Blenny is very similar to the Breastspot Blenny (Salarias guttatus). A female Goldenspot Blenny has a pinkish patch in front of the pectoral fin. The head of the male becomes very dark at mating time, and it has a yellow patch in front of the pectoral fin. They have a crest on the head and red bars around the eye. There is a small red patch behind the eye and some red on the dorsal fin. They eat algae and are found in shallow water. They are found from Wakayama to Okinawa. Amami 2026
