Spiny Brittle Star (Ophiocoma erinaceus) クロクモヒトデ
The Spiny Brittle Star is very common. They are black or sometimes mottled black. They have thick legs with long spines. They still break easily so be careful if you have to handle them. Kauai 2015

Spiny Brittle Star on the move. They are hard to photograph because they don’t stop until they are under something. If you drop them above the bottom, they will fold their legs up, so they drop faster. When they hit the bottom, they head for cover. If they are falling fish often will attack them. If you want them to make it to the bottom it is best to take them down to the bottom before releasing them. Kauai 2021
