Lined Fireworm (Pherecardia striata) タテジマウミケムシ – Bristle Worm – 20cm
The Lined Fireworm come up to the surface to mate in the summer. This was in August. We were changing a prop shaft in the water at night. The bristles are sharp and sting a lot. Fortunately, I did not get stung. The wetsuit probably helped too. Kauai 2008
Lined Fireworm in Port Allen there were a lot of them swimming around. We were there for a long time that night and so were the Fireworms. I had seen them before at night at Kukuiula Harbor too. Kauai 2008
Lined Fireworms on the bottom. They are usually on the bottom under rocks and in the coral. This was taken on the same date as the pictures at the top but 10 years later. Kauai 2018
