Red-crowned Cranes flying by the Akan International Crane Center. They have some rescued birds there and provide a sanctuary for wild birds. The Red-crowned Cranes naturally breed in Northern China, Mongolia and Russia. Their winter grounds are in China, Korea and Japan. There are some that are now resident in Japan. They are an important bird in Japan, but they became nearly extinct. They are doing better now. Hokkaido 2007
